Our Story

We started The Edinburgh Butter Co with a simple idea: to make butter that tastes the way it should.

Back in 2018, we were running a small supper club here in Edinburgh, cooking for friends, guests, and anyone who loved good food. We spent a lot of time experimenting in the kitchen, and one thing became clear - great butter makes a huge difference.

After a bit of inspiration from trips abroad (and a lot of trial and error at home), we decided to do something about it. What started as a side project, testing batches of butter in our own kitchen and sharing them with our supper club guests, quickly grew into something much bigger. Before long, we were supplying local bakeries, restaurants, and hotels across Edinburgh.

Even as we have grown, the way we work hasn’t really changed. We use high-quality British cream, culture it slowly, and churn it in small batches to build flavour and get that rich, silky texture we love. No shortcuts, just time, care, and a bit of patience.

At the end of the day, we are just passionate about making really good butter and making something we’re proud to put our name to.
